We invite you to experience the beautiful country we walk on by understanding our connection to the land, our dreaming stories, songlines and traditional practices.

Our experienced facilitators will share their knowledge and stories about artefacts, traditional dance, customs, the dreaming, tools, art, bush tucker and bush medicine.

We are committed and passionate about preserving our culture and passing down stories to future generations.

SHAKE AND STOMP – TRADITIONAL ABORIGINAL DANCE

An interactive workshop where students explore traditional dance and movements. Aboriginal dance is a celebration of our history and culture. Sounds and beats unlock the inner spirit which dancers use to express themselves through stomping, animal movements and storytelling.

CULTURE YARN – ABORIGINAL HISTORY

Students have the opportunity to yarn about the history of the Aboriginal culture. A yarning circle provides a harmonious, creative and collaborative way of communication to encourage respect, participation and self expression.

ELDER DREAMING – STORY TELLING

Experience dreaming stories from the perspective of an Elder. Sharing traditions and stories strengthens identity and reinforces peoples sense of belonging as individuals. Storytelling connects us to our heritage ensuring the passing down of knowledge will keep the culture alive.

INTERCONNECT – WEAVING

In this workshop participants will create their own piece using weaving techniques. They will learn about the process of making tools and other complex objects that require a high level of knowledge of materials, processes and designs. A great way to experience a new ancient skill which become a vital recourse for First Nation people.

PAINT YOUR DREAMING – ABORIGINAL ART

Participants will experience and create their own piece of art with the guidance of a professional Artist who will share knowledge, experiences and the significance of storytelling through art.

DEADLY INNOVATION – ARTEFACTS

This is an engaging workshop which showcases both Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander artefacts, tools and instruments. A wealth of knowledge and traditions that go back for thousands of years. Participants will get the opportunity to learn how the artefacts are made and what were their purpose was traditionally.

OUR WARRIORS – BOOMERANG / NULLA NULLA THROWING

Learn the story of the Null Nulla and the correct technique used to throw and return your boomerang. In this hands on experience participants will come to appreciate how Aboriginal people mastered these skills and used them for thousands of years.

BUSH TO SEA – BUSH TUCKER

This workshop focuses on the relationship that Aboriginal people have with the land and the changing Australian environment. Students will learn the following;

  • Develop knowledge and experience Australian native foods in its natural form utilising all sensor
  • Gain a greater understanding of Australian Native flora & fauna and learn about totems, gender roles, responsibilities and trade.
  • Learn about nutritional value and other uses of native plants and bush foods
  • Recognise and appreciate the Aboriginal contribution and commercial perspectives relating to bush food

Enhance students experience with the opportunity to taste sampling of bush foods.
