Message sticks were used to communicate a message between nations and clan groups. Students will learn how message sticks and boomerangs were used traditionally. They will also experience how damper was made, as Uncle Vic shares his special family recipe with us.

Students explore the broad question of identity and what shapes who they are through interactive activities. We learn how to unpack our values from the things that are important to us.

Aboriginal people believed a balance system was required for everything to coexist. Students will explore the idea of connection to something living, a Totem. They learn about the responsibility we have in looking after nature and it’s value.

Students will learn and experience traditional and contemporary styles of Aboriginal symbols, dance, art and connection to the Dreaming.

The land provides us with everything we need, nutritious food and resources to make tools and instruments. Students learn about native bush food and have the opportunity to create their own bush tucker recipe.

In this workshop students will learn about leadership and teamwork, and how they can be applied in our own journey of life. Through the activities they will recognise the characteristics of great leaders and how working together can produce better results.

Introducing the spiritual relationship that Aboriginal people have to sacred sites and places. Students will understand why protocols for sites are sacred and important. There are special meanings, stories and connections with the land and the people.

This workshop explores traditional dress wear and how local resources were used to make these items. Students will have the opportunity to look at the differences between what we wear in today’s celebrations and experience Aboriginal Dance – The Emu.

Introducing the art and skill of using a spear and woomera. Students will learn what they were used for, how they are thrown and how they were made. They will have the opportunity to play a game that reflects the skill of throwing a spear. Students are encouraged to consider the connection of traditional forms of communication and how we communicate today.

In this workshop we explore the importance of goal setting and the 4 key steps we can take. Students will learn how to set and achieve goals using imagines of inspiration to motivate them to succeed.

Through fishing and hunting Aboriginal people have lived off the land and our waterways for thousands of years. See how they did it and find out if this knowledge and skills can still be used today.

Traditionally weaving was an important skill practised by both men and women to create practical items such as fishing nets, baskets, food tools as well as for ceremonial purposes. Today we admire the craft for its aesthetics.

Introduction to the Torres Strait Islander culture, flag and the significance to its people. Students will learn about Torres Strait Islander artefacts and will have the opportunity to listen to a Dreaming story from Toby Cedar.

Students have the opportunity to explore and be creative in X-ray art style. The brolga is a playful bird that Iikes to dance in the wetlands, this dance represents the movements of the brolga.

Aboriginal people used their natural environment to live sustainably and were incredibly resourceful. Students will learn about the bark canoe making process, worm catching and traditional earth oven.

In this workshop students learn the importance of mindfulness, how it brings awareness to our thoughts, emotions and helps us to build a stronger mindset. First Nations warriors provide key messages to students about standing up for what is right, courage and leadership.

Water is essential to all life on planet earth, water is sacred in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and is essential to their survival and spirituality. Students will also learn a fun dance about a little playful bird the willy wagtail.

Understanding problems and how to overcome them can be achieved by having the right mindset. This workshop focuses on showing students how to see mistakes as a learning tool rather than failure. Students will also learn about a notable Aboriginal Leader – Biraban who faced many problems and overcame them.

Meditation has been around since the beginning of mankind. This ancient practice calms the mind and the body. In this workshop students will engage in a listening activity which encourages them to identify and focus on sounds around them, promoting mental and emotional wellbeing. To finish students will experience and play a Torres Strait Islander game – Kalop.
